Before his name became part of a tragic headline, Koran Irvine was a husband, a father, a hardworking New Yorker and a man who loved life.

The 46-year-old Rockland County resident was killed Tuesday night while driving home from work across the George Washington Bridge. But for those who knew him, Koran's life was about much more than the heartbreaking way it ended.

Koran was a devoted husband to his wife, Patricia, and a proud father to their two children, Lea and Hiro. His family described him as a man whose world revolved around the people he loved, someone remembered for his jokes, infectious smile, laughter and unmistakable zest for life.

He was also a dedicated Con Edison employee who had recently reached approximately 20 years with the company.

And Koran was a New Yorker through and through.

He loved the Knicks and celebrated the city and culture around him. Even neighbors remember the small things that spoke volumes about his character, including Koran welcoming a new family to the neighborhood with fresh eggs from chickens he kept at home.

His family says he worked hard every day to provide his wife and children with the best life possible. His aunt described him Thursday as a “proud and present father” who was on his way home after staying late at work the night he was killed.

Koran Irvine's story should not begin and end with what happened on the George Washington Bridge.

He was a husband. A father. A provider. A neighbor. A Knicks fan. And a true New Yorker whose family says his absence has left a void that can never be filled.

Rest in peace, Koran Irvine.
